Discover Leeds

Leeds is the third-largest city in the UK and is located in West Yorkshire with the River Aire flowing through it. The city is a popular choice for students due to its numerous universities - including the University of Leeds, Leeds Beckett University and Leeds Art University

Leeds has great transport links to other impressive cities and attractions including Harrogate, York, and the Yorkshire Dales National Park which is full of stunning scenery. Slightly further afield you’ll find Otley and Wetherby – two of Yorkshire’s most picturesque towns which are a must-visit.

There’s no doubt you’ll be entertained in Leeds, with a buzzing live music scene that supports up and coming bands in smaller venues, as well as beloved acts who you’ll find headlining Leeds Arena. If you enjoy a night at the theatre, Leeds is home to an award-winning national theatre.

A historical rite of passage for the student experience in Leeds is taking part in the famous Otley Run – a fancy dress bar crawl spanning from Headingley through to Hyde Park – you won’t want to miss it.

Both of our Leeds student accommodation options are located in the heart of the city centre, key for convenience, along with a dedicated team who are there to help with anything you need and to help keep you safe so that you can enjoy your university experience. Continue reading to learn more about our Leeds student accommodation options.

Places to explore

Leeds is a student utopia so you won’t be short on things to do here. So where do you start?

Headingley

As well as being hugely popular for its pubs, bars and restaurants, Headingley is full of independent and sustainable shops. You can visit Trad Collective and Leeds Refills to shop with minimal impact or the Farmers Market for a more natural approach. Alternatively, the convenient Headingley Centre gives everything you could need in one place.

Hyde Park

No, not the one in London. And if you’re a student in the North, then you’ll know that London’s central park won’t compare to this area in Leeds. One of the most active student areas in the city, there are countless venues, restaurants, and bars. Woodhouse Moor (a park in the Hyde Park area that’s more commonly known as Hyde Park) is also nearby, with a unique student community all around.

City centre

There’s almost too much to do in Leeds city centre, so why don’t you start by exploring the Trinity Centre with all your favourite high-street stores? Beyond the vast array of shops, you can visit the Trinity Kitchen with permanent and pop-up foods to try, as well as the Everyman’s art-house cinema.

Harrogate

If you want to escape the hustle and bustle of the city, head to Harrogate. A short train journey from Leeds, the historic town is scenic and relaxing. A focus on spa culture, flower gardens and shopping, you’ll be treating yourself for getting your university work done here.

Ilkley

Another peaceful escape option, Ilkley is a relaxing town in Wharfe Valley. It’s also a great option if you want some exercise outside of your student gym, as the Yorkshire Dales setting makes for beautiful hikes. On a sunny day, you could even take advantage of the Lido - one of only 127 remaining in England.
